Qatar and Montenegro held a round of official talks yesterday and signed several agreements aimed at strengthening relations in the fields of finance, trade, economy, tourism and sports.
The official talks, held at the Emiri Diwan, were led by HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.
The two sides reviewed aspects of bilateral co-operation and discussed ways to strengthening relations, especially in the economic and trade sectors. Other issues of mutual interest were also taken up.
The talks were attended by HE Yousef Hussein Kamal, the Minister of Economy and Finance, HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, the Minister of State for Energy and Industry Affairs, HE Sheikh Fahd bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Minister of Business and Trade, HE Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, the Minister of State for International Co-operation, HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee, Ahmed Abdullah al-Nuaimi, the Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Sultan Saad al-Mirikhei, Qatar’s Ambassador to Montenegro, Dr Hussein al-Abdullah, board member of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), and Mansour Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, office director of QIA chairman.
On the Montenegrin side the talks were attended by Foreign Minister Milan Rocen, Minister for Economic Development Branimir Gvozdenovic and information adviser to Prime Minister Aleksandra Lacovic.
Following the official talks, HE the prime minister and foreign minister and the Montenegrin prime minister witnessed the signing of the following agreements between the two countries:
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the governments of Qatar and Montenegro on encouraging mutual protection of investments; a commercial, economic and technical co-operation agreement between the governments of the two countries; a Memorandum of Understanding between the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee in the field of sports and a Memorandum of Understanding on co-operation in the tourism sector.
The MoUs and the agreement were signed for Qatar by HE Yousef Hussein Kamal, the Minister of Economy and Finance, HE Sheikh Fahd bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Minister of Business and Trade, HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee and Ahmed Abdullah al-Nuaimi, the Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Exhibitions Authority.
The Montenegrin side was represented by the Minister for Economic Development, Branimir Gvozdenovic.
Later HE the prime minister and foreign minister hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Montenegrin prime minister and the accompanying delegation.
Separately, HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani received at his Emiri Diwan Office the Montenegro Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral co-operation and a set of other issues of mutual concern. – QNA
