Qtel has launched BlackBerry Storm2 smartphones in Qatar, which are available at its retail shops.
Qtel said the smartphone significantly improves the BlackBerry touch-screen platform with new technology and features.

Qtel said its support for this advanced smartphone is built upon its position as the leading provider of BlackBerry and mobile services in Qatar.

There’s still no word on when the smartphone will be released in the United Arab Emirates from operators Etisalat and Du.

The new BlackBerry Storm2 is now available from Qtel shops across the country.

Storm2 with BlackBerry OS 5.0 comes with hardware and software enhancements over its predecessor that received less than stellar reviews when it was launched in 2008. Users complained that the virtual keyboard was not very responsive with noted tech blog Engadget saying that “it’s not as easy, enjoyable, or consistent to use as the iPhone…”

Features of the Storm2 include new SurePress ‘clickable’ display technology, a generous 3.25″ screen, built-in Wi-Fi, a 3.2 megapixel camera as well as 2GB of internal memory.
