Qatar Midday Summer Work Ban

Ministry of Labour has warned all construction companies to abide by the summer outdoor work ban that comes into force on Tuesday.

Any firm which fails to comply with the rule, which outside work between 11.30am and 3pm, until August 31, could see their worksite closed for a month, the Peninsula reports.

The law also prevents labourers from working outside for more than five hours continuously during the morning shift. All companies must display the new work timings onsite for workers to read.

Ministry inspectors will also begin their surprise checks at all worksites across the country to ensure companies are abiding by the regulations, the paper reports.

Last week, Saudi Arabian officials announced it would introduce a midday summer work ban from next year. It was the only country in the GCC to not have such rules in place.

The UAE’s midday work ban, which covers the hours of 12.30pm to 3pm, begins on Tuesday until September 15.
