Qatar Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (QTEA) is focusing on buyers from meetings, incentive, conferences and exhibitions (Mice) sector at a major trade event in Abu Dhabai.

The Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM), the biggest meetings trade show in the Middle East, is being held from March 31 to April 2.

QTEA has developed Qatar into a rising quality destination, where visitors can enjoy key conferences and events along with high-end leisure and cultural landmarks.

Its efforts have been recently recognised, with the nomination of Ahmed Al Nuaimi, chairman of QTEA, by the magazine Meed, among the six leading personalities developing tourism in the Middle East.

The QTEA is accompanied by main stakeholders of the meetings sector in Qatar, with top executives from Qatar National Convention Center, and Qatar MICE Development Institute, both part of Qatar Foundation.

“The GIBTM is an exhibition of primary importance for QTEA, as it helps us introduce Qatar to the region and the world as an ideal country for successful meetings,” said Sadeem Al Mahmied, head of marketing of QTEA.

“While promoting Qatar abroad, and especially in the region, we always proceed with special care regarding our traditional hospitality, greeting each buyer as our guest,” she added.

“We know that our first contact with future visitors is what they will remember, to encourage them to come to Qatar, and stay an additional 48 hours to experience more of what we have to offer. In GIBTM, we introduce our vision of offering luxury services for Mice and business travelers, blended with the unique Qatari cultural heritage.”

Staged annually in Abu Dhabi, the Gulf GIBTM is a three day business to business event presenting a diverse range of destinations, products and services from 250 organisations from the region and around the world.

The event brings meetings and incentives professionals from the Gulf and Middle East region and around the world together with venues, hotels, destinations and suppliers.
