Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani in a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Wednesday said the Islamic world needs a powerful country like Iran.

He expressed satisfaction at Iran’s technological and economic advancements, saying such progresses will benefit the whole Islamic world.

On the Gaza war, he said the Zionist regime was going to occupy the entire Gaza as it was given a green light by certain countries, however, the Doha conference and regional support for Gaza put a brake on the plot.

Emir of Qatar arrived in Tehran on Wednesday to attend the 10th Economic Cooperation Organization summit as a special guest.

Ahmadinejad also insisted on the need to safeguard the dignity and independence of Islamic countries and urged regional nations to increase their ties in line with their nations’ interests.

He pointed out that the current world order has failed, advising the regional nations to draw up their own system.

Ahmadinejad also pointed to the global economic crisis and said that the West is trying to transfer its problems to other nations.

Therefore, he said, independent countries must defend the interests of their nations against the West’s plans.
