QR1m raised for Gaza children

DOHA: Prominent women of Qatar raised QR1m to provide emergency relief to children in Gaza at a fund-raising reception held at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event, organised by three ROTA volunteers, Hasna Nada, Reem Al Reifi and Mona Al Naimi, included a charity auction.

H E Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani, Member of ROTA Board of Directors, and H E Sheikha Ghalia bint Mohammed Al Thani, along with the spouses of ministers and ambassadors, were among the 75 women who attended the event held last Thursday.

“We all see the humanitarian crisis that Gaza faced during the past weeks. With over 50 percent of its population being children, our support for the improvement of the living and educational conditions in the Gaza Strip is of critical importance. Each one of us has the power to help these children, so let’s do it,” said Sheikha Aisha.

During the ladies-only reception, ROTA’s distinguished guests bid for several auction items that were donated by the Souq Waqif Art Center, Ministry of Arts and Culture, Blue Salon, Balquis Gallery, Dados Spa, and Co, W Hotel and Al Salam in support of the children of Gaza.

Sheikha Aisha also donated a painting worth $100,000 to be auctioned for the same cause.

The reception was only one of the many awareness and fund-raising efforts of Reach Out To Asia in support of the children and youth of Gaza. Those interested to contribute can send their donations to “ROTA” at QNB A/c No 0035-004919-004 or SMS the word “ROTA” to 2456 to donate QR15.
