The spouse of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Emine Erdogan and Turkish State Minister Nimet Cubukcu attended a workshop on “woman and development” hosted by the spouse of Qatari Amir, Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Misnad, in Doha on Sunday.

Speaking at the workshop, Emine Erdogan began her speech by criticizing Israel’s recent attacks on Gaza.

“Which mothers on earth deserve phosphorus bombs or missiles? Which children on earth deserve bombs falling on their heads? I believe none of them deserve these,” Emine Erdogan said.

“The role of women differ in diverse countries and cultures. However, the role of women is an universal issue,” Erdogan said.

“We are gathered here today to take a step forward in providing justice to women globally,” Erdogan said.

“We can not think of a civilization without providing justice to all,” Erdogan said.

Every human being, regardless of being a man or woman, must have equal access to education, jobs and information, Erdogan said.

“Here in Doha, we will add strength to ourselves and raise the voice of compassion so that no mothers throughout the globe cry and families get devastated,” Erdogan said.

“We will discuss ways to help women participate in daily lives of the societies they live in,” Erdogan also said.

Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Misnad said that the Muslim women would always be on the side of a strong family life.

Women could balance their responsibilities in the working world and families, al-Misnad said.

“There are many points that unite us. We must join our forces. As Turkish and Qatari women, we must act so as to facilitate cooperation,” al-Misnad said.

“Today, women cannot be equally represented in all segments of the society,” Nimet Cubukcu said.

“Women must have a say in the economic life of the countries that they live in,” Cubukcu said.

The workshop in Doha would boost political and commercial ties between various countries, Cubukcu also said.
